DPL Science is a scientific research and development company dedicated to advancing space technologies. We specialize in developing engineering solutions for space applications: from conceiving innovative technologies, to designing and building prototypes, to building spaceflight hardware in our Class 100,000 clean room.

Our team of engineers engages in rigorous research and development, driving innovation across several fields:

Solar Power Subsystem: As a leader in advanced solar power subsystems, DPL Science efficiently harnesses solar energy to power space missions. We are developing a unique power subsystem that is easily scaled to meet the needs of any space mission, with inherent multiple redundancy for increased reliability.

Solar Cell Simulator: Our engineers are at the forefront of developing precise solar cell simulators, facilitating accurate testing and optimization of solar cells for space applications. The design simulates solar cell output, by modelling the effects of temperature, illumination, and radiation.

Solar LED Light Source: We have developed a compact LED light source capable of space-based illumination levels up to Air Mass Zero (AM0) seen by orbiting spacecraft. The LED light source illuminates individual solar cells or entire spacecraft panels, simulating in-orbit sunlight on the solar panels.

Spacecraft Charging: We tackle the challenges of spacecraft charging, ensuring the resilience and functionality of spacecraft that are continuously exposed to the energetic space environment. Our achievements include designing and building a radiation effects monitoring instrument that was flown on Canada’s M3MSat satellite, providing valuable scientific data on dielectric charge accumulation over the five-year mission life.
